Having recipes to share has been a pleasure.

I gathered and organized a bunch of my Favorite Farmers Market Recipes into a cookbook. A Kindle version is now available at Amazon.com.

Recipes go from Apples, Beans, and Cabbage to Potatoes, Tomatoes, and Zucchini, and everything in between. These are simple easy to make recipes you can make with fresh goodies from a Farmers Market.

This has to be one of my favorite photographs so I picked it for a Canvas Print from Cafepress.

Here’s the print fresh out of the package. It was nicely protected in the box. An inner cardboard protected and separated the foam bagged canvas from the outer box.

I’m happy with he way it turned out the colors and detail came out looking like the paper prints I had. The canvas looks good even with the fairly smooth finish, possibly from the UV coating. The framing, and packaging were all done nicely. It proudly hangs on my wall.

3 large onions, thinly sliced
4 tablespoons butter
Pillsbury crescent roll dough
Salt & pepper to taste
1 egg
1/2 cup half & half or 2% milk

Cook onions in butter until golden yellow. Spread roll dough in 10” pie pan. Spread onions over dough. Sprinkle with salt & pepper. Beat egg with half & half, pour over onions. Bake at 375 degrees for approximately 20 minutes until top is slightly browned. Serves 6.

I enjoy a morning walk around my farm and along the river with the dog and a camera. The beauty of nature, sunrise, and sights seen are a joy to behold. I love being able to share some of that beauty with a great photo. Mornings like this one on 22 November 2010 really capture Natures majesty!

I’ve heard that Fairies like to camp out under mushrooms… So, kept looking for them and hoping to capture some in a photo. They must have hidden when I looked… Though, there are some shadows in a couple of photos that could be from fairies.

After turning a few more times, this should be some great compost to spread in the fall for next years market garden crops.

Of course… The dog really enjoys going for a walk in the mornings. She’s not easy to capture in a photo, just doesn’t stay put for long or hold a pose well. A few times the camera was able to capture her in a good picture. Here’s one of her drinking from water on ice in the Mississippi river a couple of days before the ice went out:

It’s been fun taking pictures every day even if it’s sometimes hard to pick the best one from a whole lot of good ones. And… There are a few days when it’s just hard to get a good picture. Oh well… That’s just the way it goes sometimes.

Here’s a short video of the hilling:

The Allis Chalmers model G tractor was made for truck farming and works good for a small potato patch. This tractor was made in 1950 and has 4 forward speeds. Special low lets you creep along and road gear lets you cruise at 7 mph. It’s powered by a 4 cylinder flat head Continental, 62 cubic inch engine. This was rated at 10 hp in it’s Nebraska tractor test.

Dirt is mounded up around the potato plants so the spuds won’t poke out of the ground as they grow, and turn green from the sun. It’s also a chance to bury some weeds.

The spud plants in the video are red ones, the russet spud plants aren’t quite as big, yet.
