Keeping a cover on can keep unwanted critters from digging in the compost and making a mess.

That is really fun to do. I actually use my tractor mor often than I have to just because it is the job that is most fun to do around here.

I honestly salute your sheer knack for capturing the various nuances of the winter. I am particularly a fan of the pictures Trees at Sunset and Sunset Reflection. Nature has so many gifts of sight to offer us but we should pay attention to such moments that arrive. Truly fabulous.

We simply have a small home barrel with compost in it. Would you suggest keeping it open or closing the lid on it. Some say too much water is bad. obviously your compost is open air.
